DoubleTree by Hilton, Ras Al Khaimah

DoubleTree by Hilton, Ras Al-Khaimah, can best be described as a small/medium sized (#120 rooms) city hotel. It is rated 4 stars on TripAdvisor and has some good facilities;

We quickly discovered that the best thing about this hotel is the staff! who nearly all go out of there way to make sure you are warmly welcomed and taken care of – so if a manager is only as good as her team, then we have to rate Nayla Chowdury (DoubleTree by Hilton, RAK) as one of the best.

During our stay we did not meet a single member of staff that was not happy, smiling or keen to help make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. This is a rarity in the hotel and hospitality trade, where teams are huge, often working so hard that they sometimes miss the small things, like remembering guest names or a child’s meal preferences.

DoubleTree by Hilton, RAK champion the “CARE” culture and during our stay we are happy to report that we experienced some great examples:

Rochelle went above and beyond to help us choose menu items and prepare breakfast boxes, delivering them in person to our room the next morning exactly on time as promised and with a smile.

Chef Paul happened to hear that we’d like to try a mixed grill, the very next evening, a delicious, freshly prepared mixed grill with all the trimmings was presented to us at our dinner table.

Daisybell also often wowed us with her superb napkin folding skills and never ending positive energy – we’ll share/upload the creative designs on our YouTube channel.

Dinner buffets at DoubleTree, RAK are based around themed nights, e.g. Arabian, International, Seafood, Indian, ..etc.

The team of chefs, led by Chef Paul, provide a great buffet selection and welcome special requests so feel free to ask for any personal favourites.

Kajol, Shannon, Daisybell, Lorraine, Cza, Tedium, Eldo, Kolby, … in fact the whole F&B team, very ably led by “hands-on” Harinder (Restaurant Mgr), all have a great attitude, show brilliant teamwork and will do the utmost to make meal times a happy, enjoyable and yummy experience.

We stayed in a King Deluxe, one bed apartment with mini kitchen, and Creek views on the 11th floor. Note that the 11th and 12th floors are reserved for Hilton Honors members with extras like WiFi, bathrobes and slippers. The apartment was bright and spacious, perfect for a small family. WiFi speed was good with very few session drop outs and no complaints from our 2 girls on the internet daily. August is peak temperatures in UAE, many days were 40+ Celsius, that meant mid-day heat was either, best avoided or if you go out, be sure to use sun block factor 30+

The Hotel no longer provides a complimentary shuttle bus to Dubai, however this can be arranged via one of the Hotel partners, just ask the Concierge at reception. There is however a daily complimentary pick/drop service to the sister resort and private beach at Marjan Island.

We used Thrifty (Dubai) for car hire and tried a Nissan Sunny which was a little too small for a family of four, so we changed to a Toyota Corolla which was perfect, plenty of power and space to drive around and explore the emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah

Overall, we highly recommend DoubleTree by Hilton, RAK, because its an excellent base to explore the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah. Moreover, we had a great holiday, that actually felt like we were staying with family and made some new friends along the way – surely that’s what travelling is all about.

    1. Yes, especially with kids, it’s a must, note that drinks are not included, however a 1.5l bottle of water at dinner is fine and costs 15 AED
